Curious about what open educational resources exists for your subject area? Want some strategies for open pedagogy? Take advantage of the Open Curriculum Consultation form and a librarian will do research for you and bring back the resources found!  This form will allow you to decide if you are interested in open educational resources, open pedagogy, or both!  Not sure what those are? Check out the SPARC’s guide for better definitions.

The Libraries will not only give you existing resources but direct you to supporting resources for technology, funding, and more!

18th century gentlemanBritish Library Newspapers is a fully searchable digital archive of national, regional, and local British newspapers spanning over 200 years (1732-1950), sourced from the extensive holdings of the British Library. By focusing on geographical diversity, the collection includes alternatives to the London-centric viewpoints of Britain’s major publications. Part of Gale Primary Sources.

Nineteenth Century US Newspapers

old spectacles on newspaperNineteenth Century US Newspapers is a fully searchable digital archive of over 400 newspapers published in the United States during the 19th century (1801-1900), representing all current U.S. states. In addition to major daily newspapers, the collection includes titles published by African Americans, Native Americans, women’s rights groups, labor groups, and the Confederacy to present a broad look at “the first draft of history.” Part of Gale Primary Sources.

Exhibition: A Community of Possibilities: Artworks from PS1 Iowa City Press Co-Op

PS1 Press SymbolApril 11-May 8, 2026, Burling Gallery, lower level

PS1 Press Co-Op is a collectively run printshop that provides affordable local access to book and print arts in the Iowa City area. They provide studio space, education, collaboration, and community through printmaking. PS1’s print shop and members served as a great source of inspiration for Grinnell’s new Burling Library Book Lab. The work in this exhibition features recent work by PS1 Print Co-Op members and offers further inspiration for our own Book Lab community.

World Cinema Collection

Film The World Cinema Collection is a streaming video collection featuring the best of silent-era films, masterpieces from the mid-20th century, and contemporary films from around the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and North America. The collection covers the history of cinema while also providing a glimpse into the issues faced by cultures around the globe. Part of Films on Demand.

Foreign Affairs Magazine Online

Space and globeSince its founding in 1922, Foreign Affairs has been the leading forum for serious discussion of American foreign policy and global affairs. Foreign Affairs is published by the Council on Foreign Relations, a nonprofit and nonpartisan membership organization dedicated to improving the understanding of U.S. foreign policy and international affairs through the free exchange of ideas.

Foreign Affairs is just one of many online resources offered by the Libraries. Please check out the newest list of A-Z Databases the library subscribes to, including trial access.
